What Did Moroni See?
A Message to Those Who Build up Secret Abominations to Get Gain, to All Wicked, Perverse, and Stiffnecked People, to Pollutions, Hypocrites, and Teachers, and to All Those Who Resist Their Tyranny
Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are currently studying the Book of Mormon as part of the Come Follow Me curriculum. This week it is our privilege and blessing to study Mormon 7-9. In my opinion, these are a few of the most powerful and riveting chapters in the entire Book of Mormon, in part because both Mormon and his son Moroni speak directly to us, their latter-day audience.
I laid the foundation of this Substack in the previous posts: “Smashing Spiders: Exposing and Eradicating Horrific Evil and Real Conspiracies,” “Into the Rabbit Hole: Books and Websites that Expose Secret Combinations,” and “Sick Elites: Hamblin, Leavitt, Epstein, Puff Daddy, Kamala, and More.” Nevertheless, long ago, Book of Mormon prophets (as well as other ancient prophets such as Isaiah and John the Beloved) laid the foundation for understanding, recognizing, exposing, and eradicating secret combinations from the face of the earth.
After his father Mormon was killed in a terrible battle, Moroni was left alone to record the “sad tale” of the destruction of his people. Moroni understood that the hand of the Lord had accomplished the “great and marvelous” destruction of his people. Like his father before him, Moroni’s experience in the world consisted mostly of war and “one continual round of murder and bloodshed,” to which there seemed to be no end.
We seldom appreciate the expansive vision of the last of the Book of Mormon prophets. In addition to personal visitations from and ministering by the Lord Jesus Christ and His three beloved disciples, Moroni had a perfect understanding of the rise and fall of three great civilizations upon the American continent: 1. the Jaredites 2. The Lehites (his own civilization) and 3. The United States of America (and by extension, the rest of the modern world). Moroni knew the cause of the destruction of the Jaredites and the destruction of his own people, the Nephites, and he also knew by revelation the cause of the impending destruction of our own formerly great democratic republic.
In these final chapters of his father’s book, Moroni informs us that if it were possible, he would make all things known unto us. (Mormon 8:12) If we ponder what it might mean for Moroni to make all things known unto us, perhaps we will consider more carefully and act upon his invitation to repent and to search the prophecies of Isaiah (Mormon 8:23, see also here). Moroni then prophesies of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and the conditions of the society in which the Book of Mormon will be brought to light:
And no one need say they shall not come, for they surely shall, for the Lord hath spoken it; for out of the earth shall they come, by the hand of the Lord, and none can stay it; and it shall come in a day when it shall be said that miracles are done away; and it shall come even as if one should speak from the dead.
And it shall come in a day when the blood of saints shall cry unto the Lord, because of secret combinations and the works of darkness.
Yea, it shall come in a day when the power of God shall be denied, and churches become defiled and be lifted up in the pride of their hearts; yea, even in a day when leaders of churches and teachers shall rise in the pride of their hearts, even to the envying of them who belong to their churches.
Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be heard of fires, and tempests, and vapors of smoke in foreign lands;
And there shall also be heard of wars, rumors of wars, and earthquakes in divers places.
Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be great pollutions upon the face of the earth; there shall be murders, and robbing, and lying, and deceivings, and whoredoms, and all manner of abominations; when there shall be many who will say, Do this, or do that, and it mattereth not, for the Lord will uphold such at the last day. But wo unto such, for they are in the gall of bitterness and in the bonds of iniquity.
Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be churches built up that shall say: Come unto me, and for your money you shall be forgiven of your sins. (Mormon 8:26-32)
In case we wonder which society Moroni describes, we may want to read these passages again. Does any of this sound familiar? Unless we have been living under a rock for most of our lives, it is clear that the society that Moroni describes in these passages is our own.
Incredibly, however, there are too many members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who, along with too many complacent fellow Christians and other complacent people of faith seem not to recognize or acknowledge the reality of the conditions that Moroni describes.
The Book of Mormon contains other witnesses of the very things that Moroni prophesied. Like Moroni, his great ancestor and prophetic predecessor Nephi also prophesied that in that last days (the days in which we now live), secret combinations would abound, false teachers and false doctrines would be rampant, pride and priestcraft would infest the world, there would be widespread and vehement contention, and the devil would lead many people toward the extremes of either violent rage or prideful complacency. (see 2 Nephi 26:20-22, 29; 2 Nephi 28:3-28)
Moroni saw things as they really are, and he did not mince words in his message to us:
O ye wicked and perverse and stiffnecked people, why have ye built up churches unto yourselves to get gain? Why have ye transfigured the holy word of God, that ye might bring damnation upon your souls? Behold, look ye unto the revelations of God; for behold, the time cometh at that day when all these things must be fulfilled.
Behold, the Lord hath shown unto me great and marvelous things concerning that which must shortly come, at that day when these things shall come forth among you.
Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing.
And I know that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts; and there are none save a few only who do not lift themselves up in the pride of their hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envying, and strifes, and malice, and persecutions, and all manner of iniquities; and your churches, yea, even every one, have become polluted because of the pride of your hearts.
For behold, ye do love money, and your substance, and your fine apparel, and the adorning of your churches, more than ye love the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted.
O ye pollutions, ye hypocrites, ye teachers, who sell yourselves for that which will canker, why have ye polluted the holy church of God? Why are ye ashamed to take upon you the name of Christ? Why do ye not think that greater is the value of an endless happiness than that misery which never dies—because of the praise of the world?
Why do ye adorn yourselves with that which hath no life, and yet suffer the hungry, and the needy, and the naked, and the sick and the afflicted to pass by you, and notice them not?
Yea, why do ye build up your secret abominations to get gain, and cause that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the Lord from the ground, for vengeance upon your heads?
Behold, the sword of vengeance hangeth over you; and the time soon cometh that he avengeth the blood of the saints upon you, for he will not suffer their cries any longer. (Mormon 8:33-41)
What did Moroni see? He didn’t just see the metaphorical spiders, the secret combinations, or the sick elites of which I wrote in previous posts. He saw us, and his questions are aimed at us. In my previous post I promised to reach even further beneath the surface and even deeper into the not so metaphorical rabbit hole. With the help of courageous investigators, with Moroni’s help, and especially with the Lord’s help, I will endeavor to shed more light on the history, patterns, development, and operations of the conspiracies of our time, beginning with the time of the American Revolution.
